Australian/New Zealand interview focus

Tailored for Australian and New Zealand medical school interviews.

MedCoach is tailored for Australian and New Zealand medical school interviews. Our MMI and panel questions are built from successful applicant reports, doctors with interviewer experience, expert tutor insight, real marking expectations and commonly assessed interview domains. Before each interview season, we update the question bank so your practice reflects the formats, themes and expectations applicants are most likely to face that year.

01

Question bank that stays ahead

Our question bank is built from successful applicant reports and direct insight from doctors and medical school interviewers. It is refreshed before each interview season so your practice reflects the formats, themes and marking criteria most relevant to your entry year.

02

Doctor- and tutor-informed criteria

MedCoach’s marking criteria and model answer guidance are informed by real Australian and New Zealand medical school interview criteria, doctors with interviewer experience and tutors with extensive medical interview teaching experience.

03

Core skills, not memorised scripts

MedCoach helps you build flexible answer structure, reasoning and delivery against the kinds of criteria interviewers actually assess, rather than memorising fixed answers that may not fit the question.

In development

Coming soon

School-specific mocks, built to match the real format.

MedCoach's core platform focuses on MMI and panel interview preparation. We are also developing optional university-specific mock exams for selected Australian and New Zealand medical schools.

Modelled 1:1 around each school's interview

Each mock exam is designed to replicate the structure, timing and question style of the target medical school's interview process.

Identical timing

Where a school uses timed stations, reading time, preparation time, follow-up questions or panel-style discussion, the mock is designed to match the timing as closely as possible.

Identical structure

The mock format is designed to mirror the school's actual interview flow, including station order, response style and follow-up format where applicable.

University mocks updated for each interview season

Our mocks are built with input from doctors, medical school interviewers and experienced tutors with direct insight into Australian and New Zealand medical school interviews. Before each interview season, we update every university mock using the latest information about that university's interview process, so your practice reflects the formats, question styles and expectations most relevant to your application year.

Realistic exam flow

The goal is to help applicants practise not only the question types, but also the rhythm, pressure and structure of the actual interview day.

Feedback engine

Feedback on what you said and how you delivered it.

A strong medical interview answer is not just about having good ideas. Interviewers notice whether you answer the question, structure your reasoning, communicate clearly, sound confident and present well on camera. MedCoach reviews the full performance, not just the words in your answer.

BodyLang V2

BodyLang V2 is MedCoach's in-house technology for analysing observable behaviours that affect interview communication. It gives applicants practical feedback on their body language, helping them identify habits that may weaken an otherwise strong answer.

  • Eye contact and gaze

See whether you maintain consistent visual engagement or frequently look away.

  • Posture and movement

Identify slouching, fidgeting or distracting movements.

  • Gestures

Understand whether your gestures support your answer or distract from it.

  • Facial expression

Review whether your expression matches the tone of your response.

  • Overall presence

Get practical comments on how confident, engaged and composed you appear.

BodyLang V2 does not judge your appearance. It focuses on observable interview behaviours, not attractiveness, identity or personal traits.

What we won't do

Hard lines around fairness, privacy and what gets reviewed.

MedCoach is designed to give practical interview feedback without judging who you are. The system focuses on your interview performance: your answer, structure, communication, delivery, body language, setup and professional presentation.

Voice analysis only uses audio.

MedCoach reviews how you sound, including pace, clarity, fluency and confidence. It does not infer appearance, ethnicity, posture, eye contact or any visual trait from your voice.

BodyLang V2 focuses on interview behaviours.

BodyLang V2, MedCoach's in-house tracking technology, analyses observable behaviours such as gaze, posture, gestures and movement. It does not score attractiveness, body shape, facial features or identity.

Attire is reviewed only for professionalism.

MedCoach may comment on whether your clothing and presentation appear suitable for a medical school interview. It does not judge fashion, attractiveness, body type, gender expression or personal style beyond interview appropriateness.

We do not score protected characteristics.

MedCoach does not score or infer ethnicity, gender, age, disability, accent origin or other protected characteristics. Feedback is limited to your interview performance.

Recordings stay yours.

Your audio, video and feedback are tied to your account for personal review. They are used to help you practise, track progress and improve. They are not shared with other applicants.

After every session

A report you can actually use after the session.

Every practice session creates a structured report that helps you understand what worked, what did not and what to focus on next. Instead of leaving a session with a vague feeling that your answer was “good” or “messy,” MedCoach breaks the performance into clear, practical feedback.

Progress tracking

MedCoach helps you identify patterns across your sessions, not just isolated mistakes from one answer.

  • Recurring weaknesses: See repeated issues across multiple attempts.
  • Repeated content gaps: Identify topics, examples or reasoning steps you often miss.
  • Structure patterns: Notice whether your answers are consistently too vague, too long, too short or poorly concluded.
  • Delivery habits: Track repeated issues with pace, filler words, confidence, eye contact or body language.
  • Improvement over time: See whether later attempts are becoming clearer, more structured and more complete.

Memory

MedCoach can remember your goals, experiences, preferences, and recurring areas for improvement, so your feedback becomes more personal over time.

  • Your goals: Tell MedCoach what you are preparing for and what you want to improve.
  • Your feedback style: Choose whether you want feedback that is direct, balanced or more encouraging.
  • Your recurring weaknesses: Get reminders about issues that have appeared before.
  • Your next focus: Start the next session with a clearer idea of what to practise.

Personalised coaching

MedCoach uses your story bank, goals and previous feedback to help your answers sound more like you, not like a textbook.

  • Feedback tailored to your experience: Use your own experiences, background and motivations to strengthen your answers.
  • Model answer guidance: See stronger answer examples built around your real stories.
  • Repeated improvement: Apply feedback across multiple attempts and see what changes.
  • Session continuity: Keep useful context from previous sessions so feedback feels connected rather than random.

Why MedCoach

Why not just use a tutor or generic AI?

Private tutoring can be valuable. Generic AI can help with brainstorming. MedCoach is built for something more specific: repeated Australian medical interview rehearsal with structured feedback on your answers, delivery, voice and body language.

Private tutor
Generic AI

Personal guidance from someone who understands the process.

Useful for general advice, structure and brainstorming.

Often $80+/hour or more.

Available anytime at low cost, but not tailored to interviews.

Can give tailored advice, but only during booked sessions.

Can respond instantly, but often gives generic feedback.

May understand medical interviews, depending on the tutor.

Not built specifically for Australian medical school interviews.

Can comment on your delivery in real time.

Usually cannot properly assess how you look, sound or present.

Feedback quality can vary between tutors.

May produce answers that still need checking.

Hard to practise repeatedly without paying for more sessions.

Easy to repeat, but lacks a structured interview practice loop.

Helpful for strategy and confidence.

Helpful for quick answer ideas.

MedCoach is not here to replace every tutor. It gives you a structured way to practise more often, receive consistent feedback, and improve between tutoring sessions or before the real interview.
