The Monash graduate entry MMI: six stations, no GAMSAT, 60 per cent of the decision

Monash runs a second, separate medicine course at Churchill in Gippsland for graduates of named Monash degrees. It requires no GAMSAT, it is not a GEMSAS pathway, and the six-station Zoom MMI is worth 60 per cent of the decision against a 40 per cent undergraduate WAM. Interviews run on 8, 9 and 10 September 2026, months before the direct-entry rounds.

Monash runs two separate medicine courses, and this guide covers the graduate-entry one, based at Churchill in Gippsland under course code M6018. It selects with a Multi Mini Interview of six sequential stations, held online over Zoom on 8, 9 and 10 September 2026 for 2027 entry.

The arithmetic is unusual. Monash states that "The selection process for graduate entry medicine at Churchill (Gippsland) consists of two components:", and those two are your undergraduate Weighted Average Mark at 40 per cent and the MMI at 60 per cent. There is no admissions test in the formula at all.

Who this pathway is open to

Eligibility here is narrower than at any GEMSAS school, because Monash restricts graduate entry to graduates of its own named degrees plus one partner program. A bachelor degree from another university does not make you eligible, however strong it is.

What Monash publishes about the interview

Monash states that "Monash uses a Multi Mini Interview (MMI) for the selection of students." and that the MMI consists of six sequential interview stations. Its interviewer program page adds that the MMI is "conducted entirely online via Zoom" and that each scenario focuses on "one or more of the following domains".

How much the MMI counts, and what gets you into it

Two numbers decide this pathway, and they are not the ones that decide the interview invitation. Getting invited runs on WAM alone. Getting an offer runs on WAM at 40 per cent and the MMI at 60 per cent, which makes the interview the single largest component of the decision.

Source: Monash graduate entry entry requirements. Monash states that Dean's Rural List applicants benefit from lower WAM thresholds for interview offers and are assessed separately from non-DRL applicants. Interview offers for 2027 entry were based on course WAM as at 11 August 2026, and Monash states that neither your course of study nor your medicine course preferences have any bearing on interview selection.

The 2027 entry timeline

Monash publishes exact dates rather than vague windows and marks the offer rounds as subject to change. Note how early the whole thing runs: this pathway is finished interviewing before most GEMSAS schools have started.

Preparing for this specific format

Everything above is Monash's published information. This section is MedCoach's preparation advice, shaped around what this pathway actually asks of you.

Prepare for an interview that outweighs your degree

At 60 per cent, the MMI carries more weight here than at any GEMSAS school, and your WAM is already fixed by the time you are invited. Two applicants separated by three WAM points can swap places on one strong station. That is the argument for treating interview preparation as the main event rather than something to fit around final-year assessment.

Work the seven attributes one at a time

Monash names exactly what it assesses: advocacy, collaboration, critical thinking, empathy, ethical reasoning, motivation and resilience. Very few schools are this explicit. Find a real experience of your own for each one, because a station probing resilience will not be satisfied by an answer that is mostly about empathy.

Do not borrow the direct-entry timings

The ten-minutes-a-station figure that circulates for Monash comes from the direct-entry page, and Monash has not published station timing for graduate entry. Practise across a range, from five minutes to eight, so that whatever the clock turns out to be, you have an answer that fits it and an ending you can reach cleanly.

If you are a school leaver rather than a graduate, the Monash direct entry MMI guide covers the VTAC pathway and its six-station December and January rounds. The interview offer and date guide sets out the wider 2027-entry timeline, and the national interview guide compares formats across every Australian medical school.
