Timing
When do medicine interview offers come out in Australia? (2027 entry)
Graduate entry through GEMSAS runs on a fixed national timeline, while direct entry schools each publish their own. Here is what is actually confirmed for 2027 entry, what is only an indicative window, and what has not been published at all.
If you applied for graduate entry through GEMSAS, interview offers for 2027 entry are released in early September 2026 and interviews are held across September and October 2026. Place offers follow at the end of October or the start of November 2026.
If you applied for direct or undergraduate entry, there is no single national date. Each university publishes its own timing, and most of it falls between late October 2026 and late January 2027. UNSW, Curtin and Flinders have published exact dates. Several others have published only a month.
The tables below separate what has actually been published from what is still an estimate. Anything a university has not released is marked as not published rather than filled in with a guess.
How to read the labels in this guide
- Confirmed means the institution has published a specific date or date range for 2027 entry.
- Indicative window means the institution has published only a month or a period, or has flagged the timing as tentative or subject to change.
- Not published means the institution has not released it for this cycle. Do not plan around a date in this category, because there is not one.
Graduate entry through GEMSAS
Ten medical schools select graduate-entry applicants through GEMSAS for 2027 entry: ANU, Deakin, Griffith, Macquarie, Melbourne, Notre Dame Fremantle, Notre Dame Sydney, UQ, UWA and Wollongong. GEMSAS runs one consortium timeline over the top of them.

Direct and undergraduate entry
Direct-entry schools run to their own calendars, and most of them sit later in the year than the GEMSAS round because they wait on ATAR or UCAT results. UCAT ANZ provides 2026 results to consortium universities in early September 2026, and those results are valid for the 2026 admissions cycle only, meaning entry in 2027.

Schools that do not interview, and one we could not confirm
The University of Sydney's graduate-entry MD does not interview standard-pathway applicants for 2027 entry. Its Doctor of Medicine Domestic Admissions Guide 2027 states that applicants are ranked on admissions test results, apart from those applying via the Indigenous Facilitated Entry Scheme, and its published domestic timeline contains no interview step. First-round offers are dated Thursday 3 September 2026.
Two qualifications matter. Sydney reserves the right to use an additional selection tool such as an interview or a Situational Judgement Test if applicants are ranked equally, so an interview is possible as a tie-break rather than as a standard stage. Separately, applicants for the Dubbo stream submit a personal statement and may be required to attend an interview, which contributes to their final ranking into that stream.
What has not been published yet
- Exact calendar dates for most GEMSAS schools. The consortium timeline is month-level, and several schools have published only a month or a tentative range.
- Adelaide University's main-round interview dates for 2027 entry.
- UQ has stated it is reviewing how the UCAT ANZ aggregate score will be calculated for interview selection following UCAT ANZ's testing changes, and will update when that is settled.
- Monash University's 2027-entry interview timing, at least on the pages we could reach.
How to use these dates without getting caught out
This section is MedCoach's advice rather than official guidance from any university.
- Work backwards from the earliest plausible date that applies to you, not the latest. For GEMSAS applicants that means being ready in the first week of September 2026, because the offer and the interview can be as little as two to three weeks apart.
- Check your junk and promotions folders daily once your window opens. GEMSAS sends interview invitations by email, and several universities require you to book a slot within a limited time.
- Book the moment your invitation arrives. Several schools allocate slots first come, first served, and some flag that late bookings are only considered in exceptional circumstances.
- Check whether yours is online or in person rather than assuming. Both are common this cycle: most GEMSAS schools have published online formats, while UNSW, Macquarie and most Curtin rounds are face to face. If yours is online, your camera, microphone, lighting and internet connection are part of your preparation.
- Recheck the official page in the week before your interview. Universities do amend timing and delivery details inside a cycle, and their direct communications to you always take precedence over any guide, including this one.
